WELCOME to the NEW
CENTRAL STUDIO & PROTEUS
YOUNG PEOPLE’S THEATRE!
A
note from Ross Harvie, Creative Producer at Proteus Theatre Company
Striving for excellence and
inclusion and inspiring young people…
We are a multi-award winning
professional theatre company that believes the audience is as important as the
artist and that to create truly dynamic and relevant theatre the audience and
artist must inspire each other’s imagination. Quality, Integrity and Innovation
are the values at the heart of all Proteus’ work, and the criteria by which the
company judges its success. Resident on the campus of Queen Mary’s College, the
company has a 30 year history of creating quality work, producing a programme
that serves the local community here in Basingstoke and then tours that work
nationally and internationally.
We collaborate with professional
artists, often from different disciplines, such as photography, film, dance, music
and the visual arts, in order to make unique performance pieces and we intend
to enable all members of these Youth Theatre groups to
access the varied array of artists who work for us. We aim to engage young
people, creating amazing experiences, promoting and advancing education and
enriching lives through the power of the performing arts.
We are incredibly excited about
working with Central Studio on the new Young People’s Theatre, growing their
hearts and minds and complimenting our other projects. If you’re an adult
remember you can join the fastest growing adult drama group in the South of
England; The Proteans. Or if you have access needs you might like to try out Breakout;
our project for local adults with disabilities. More information on our website

All the above groups will
receive workshops and visits from professional actors, designers, directors and
specialist artists (including circus skills and magic!) working with Proteus,
throughout the year. Membership of each group is £130 per academic year. The

Are
you an Adult and feeling a little bit left out?
If you’re an adult (18+), and
you’re fed up with your children having all the fun, you can join the fastest
growing adult drama group in the South of England; The Proteans! It costs as
little as £2 a session to join the busiest company in the south of England. The

all our professional touring work, and get involved in the larger participatory
