THE CAT THAT WALKED BY HIMSELF

Performed by leading puppeteers Nik Palmer and Sarah Rowland-Barker, with a sound track beautifully narrated by Pip Utton.

catThis play of light and shadow, the most ancient of all the puppet arts, tells the classic  Just-So story of Rudyard Kipling. Inspired by traditional paintings of North-east India,  these moving shadows beautifully re-create the story of the time when the world was  young, and Woman tamed Man, Dog, Horse and Cow but  . . . did she tame Cat?

Narrated with gentle humour, this magical performance is created using simple  technology and will entrance all those over the age of five.
Also included in the programme is a short piece "The Big Surprise", an original and  slightly whacky tale of gastronomic adventure. Two overhead projectors are used to  create a live, gentle and colourful animation.
Duration: 45 minutes
Suitable for ages: 5+

LUCKY THE POLAR BEAR

luckyLucky the Polar Bear is very hungry. This is because the ice is late. Without  the ice, he can’t catch any nice, fat seals and without seals, he will starve.
As he waits for the sea to freeze, a ghostly figure appears in a canoe; an  ancient Inuit ghost, called Knut, who has been awoken from his long slumber  under the ice when he started to thaw. Knut tells Lucky that People are  causing the Earth to warm and that’s why the ice won’t come. They both  decide that someone must tell them and set off on a magical journey to the  Big City!

Much to their surprise, the People of the Big City don't want to know. Can  Lucky and Knut persuade them to mend their ways? Will petrol head Dave  agree to ride a bicycle? Will Guzzler and Grime Rubber Company stop  making their black smoke? Can one small person - a child even - make a  difference? Find out when you join us for this magical and humorous story that explains the problem of global warming and gives us hope that, together, we can solve it.

Saturday 26th May at 11am
Dr Palfi presents
THE REALLY DANGEROUS SAFETY SHOW

safety  The Really Dangerous Safety Show goes down a treat with children and adults alike. Dr Palfi  arrives with his huge bag of tricks and no one ever knows what he's going to bring out next!  What can be promised is that it will be hilarious and he will incorporate as many children in  the audience as possible to make sure everyone has the best time they've ever had at a show.
He may attempt to demonstrate, with masses of assistance and advice from volunteer junior  practitioners from the audience, how to perform the most dangerous tricks in the universe such  as the handling of invisible Mexican jumping fleas or the balancing of the world's tallest umbrella  on his chin or he may introduce everyone to the world's largest balloon or even get all the  children in the audience to join his impromptu orchestra. If you're really lucky he may even  prove the dangerous and exploding nature of ordinary drinking water.
 Great fun promised!
Whilst adults appreciate the verbal gags, the children are desperate to get on stage to assist the  apparently vulnerable Palfi, who fails to perform 'dangerous' tricks like catching keys and whose  sore back means he is unable to pick up the litter he (repeatedly) drops.
 Duration: 45 minutes
 Suitable for ages: 3+
