Beethoven`s perennially favourite piano sonata quasi una fantasia highlights the themes of fantasy and the night that will be present through the three programmes of Masterworks. Chopin`s radical and disturbing Sonata and the late Nocturnes provide a fitting tribute at the close of the composer`s bicentennial year.

James Lisney is joined by two of the country’s leading chamber musicians for a performance of Schubert`s Trio in E flat (the slow movement made famous by the film ‘Barry Lyndon’), one of the most exhilarating and powerful of chamber works.

James Lisney - piano

James Lisney continues his exploration of `fantasy and the night` with fantasy sonatas by Beethoven and Schubert. Chopin`s Polonaise-Fantaisie has been described as the ‘Kubla Khan’ of the piano repertoire, matched in its richness and innovation by the masterful last nocturnes.

Tickets:  £15 full, £13 concessions, £5 under 18
