 NICK HARPER

NH

Son of the legendary UK singer-songwriter Roy Harper,  Nick has played the guitar from the age of 10 and was  surrounded by the likes of Keith Moon, Jimmy Page, Robert  Plant and  Dave Gilmour as he grew up, so it was no  surprise when  Nick made his recording debut on his father's  ‘Whatever  Happened to Jugula?’ in 1985. Nick's talent and  energy  entranced Roy's fans and it was inevitable that he  would  begin recording and touring in his own right.
To call Nick a superlative singer/songwriter could put his   highly lauded guitar talent in the shade, and to call him a   guitarist's guitarist might slight his distinctive, soulful voice   and passionate songs. Not forgetting the wild ride that is  one of his live shows - from personal introspection to biting  political satire via a charmingly caustic wit. He often segues  from his own compositions to well-loved covers he makes his  own - he takes on Presley, Zappa, Jeff Buckley, Led Zeppelin, Monty Python and Public Enemy (yes, on an acoustic guitar). For over a decade, he has been dazzling audiences and reviewers alike with his heady mix of virtuosity, boyish charm, showmanship and sheer bravado. His talent and showmanship were recognised in with a (Glasgow) Herald Fringe Angel award for excellence in live music during his Edinburgh Festival run.
"Harper has so much musicianship in him that it just leaks out all over the place." The Times

STEVE KNIGHTLEY
SOLO TOUR 2012
steve knightley  Steve Knightley is the songwriting force behind Show of  Hands, widely acclaimed as the finest acoustic roots duo in  England and with three Royal Albert Hall sell-outs to their  name. In 2010 Steve won the best original song for  “Arrogance, Ignorance and Greed” at the BBC Radio2 Folk  Awards.
Steve Knightley is renowned for his strong, trademark  narrative songs which reflect the escapades, hopes and fears  not only of people in his native West Country but beyond  and he pulls no punches when writing highly literate songs  about bigger, global issues.

The Exeter-based singer-songwriter writes the majority of  material for Show of Hands, which also features  multi-instrumentalist Phil Beer, and together they won the  Best Duo in the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Steve  continues his success as a solo artist with his annual tour  and has released 4 solo albums the latest “Live in Somerset”  was recorded in early 2011.

BBC Radio 2’s Mike Harding recently described  Steve as “one of England’s greatest songwriters”  while MOJO wrote: “Steve Knightley’s songs have developed such an edge it’s hard to deny them any                                                                                                         longer.”

PHIL BEER

beer

Phil Beer is the multi-instrumental half of the West Country’s  award winning acoustic duo, Show of Hands. With a  professional career of over 36 years, Phil has a great deal of  material to draw on for his solo appearances, which are an  eclectic mix of traditional tunes, covers of Springsteen and  The Hollies, together with his own compositions and songs  from his contemporaries.
All are songs and music of memory and significance sung in  the subtle and melodic Phil Beer style and interjected with  musings and amusings to an almost personal audience. It is a  treat of past and current favourites from one of the most  popular musicians on the acoustic circuit.
